‘Prison Break’ season 5’s episode 2, titled “Kaniel Outis,” will follow Michael as he attempts his escape from Ogygia with his cellmate, Whip. Meanwhile, creator Paul Scheuring teased during a recent interview that the series may finally have to come to an end.
The lengthy synopsis for “Kaniel Outis” posted on TV Guide reads, “As Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) and C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar) search for the "Sheik of Light," Michael (Wentworth Miller) and his cellmate, Whip (Augustus Prew), attempt an escape from Ogygia.
Meanwhile, Sara's (Sarah Wayne Callies) investigation into Michael's reappearance leads her to the state department and an uneasy reunion with Paul Kellerman (Paul Adelstein).”
The upcoming episode will follow Michael Scofield a.k.a. Kaniel Outis as he and his cellmate Whip attempt their escape plan from Ogygia. In the previous episode, viewers learned that Michael has survived but has been imprisoned for seven years in Ogygia. Sara, who assumed that Michael has died, was shocked to see him reappear and has begun her investigation on how he was able to come out alive.
Michael, on the other hand, was determined to forget his old life and forge a new one. T-Bag (Robert Knepper) was the first one to discover the truth when he was handed a letter with Michael’s photograph inside upon his release from prison. He then went to see Lincoln but the latter was convinced that the entire thing was a joke until he went to dig up Michael’s grave and found that there was no body in the coffin.
The popular serial drama’s return on the small screen proved to be a hit among fans as it scored a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic as revealed by Nielsen data. According to Variety, the premiere brought in 3.8 million viewers upon its release on Fox last April 4.
Despite the numbers, creator Paul Scheuring revealed that season 5 will be Michael Scofield’s final outing unless another network will pick up the series. Scheuring said during an interview with Collider, “I couldn’t tell you another story about this group of people. Maybe somebody else can, or by accident, I’ll somehow, possibly, dream up another prison escape that’s new and fresh, but I would bet against it.”
He added, “Until I, or someone else, can come up with something that’s really worthwhile for the audience, you have to say goodbye to these people.”
‘Prison Break’ season 5’s episode 2, titled “Kaniel Outis,” is scheduled to air on Fox on April 11, 2017. It was directed by Maja Vrvilo. It will be followed episode 3, titled "The Liar", is scheduled to air on April 18 and was also directed by Vrilo.
