Prince Harry has been vocal about protecting his family, especially his wife Meghan Markle, from the relentless media attention. As her relationship with her father, Thomas Markle, turns for the worse for the entire world to witness, the royal couple has decided to sue a well-known British paper.
However, the legal action did not seem to ease any of the media attention that Prince Harry and Meghan have been getting. Netizens who do not approve of the royals’ move against UK publications even went further by reviving a long-running myth that Prince Harry is not the biological son of Prince Charles.
The truth about Prince Harry’s real father: Is it Prince Charles or James Hewitt?
Several tweets from online users have been insisting that Prince Harry is “not even of royal blood.” However, these netizens phrase it, their posts end up claiming that Meghan’s husband is the biological son of Princess Diana and her horse-riding instructor James Hewitt.
This rumor is not new and has been widely shared for decades now, especially after Princess Diana confirmed in 1995 that she did have an affair with Hewitt from 1986 to 1991. Some people are quite convinced that Prince Harry’s real father is Hewitt due to some trivial reasons, such as them having the same hair color.
To be fair, these two men have quite the resemblance, as evidenced by numerous side-by-side photos published over the years. But there are far more convincing proofs making these rumors simple to debunk.
Here’s why it is very impossible that James Hewitt is Prince Harry’s father
The timeline of Princess Diana and Hewitt’s relationship should easily debunk these claims no matter how much the latter look-alike with Prince Harry. The affair started shortly after they met, which means Prince Harry was already around 2 years old when Hewitt became involved with the late Princess of Wales.
Prince Harry has avoided responding to this wild rumor, but Hewitt has repeatedly gone on record to deny it. The latter admitted that they somehow share similar physical traits, but insisted that he cannot be Prince Harry’s father. “I have never encouraged these comparisons, and although I was with Diana for a long time, I must state once and for all that I'm not Harry's father,” Hewitt told Sunday Mirror (via Daily Mail) in 2002.
