Fans are looking forward to “Power” season 7 that was being promoted as sequels. In this case, the first of the four-part sequel has been titled “Power Book II: Ghost” and it seems that this will be delayed.
Filming delay
A piece of unfortunate news came in just a few hours ago and Express reported that one of the production staff of “Power Book II: Ghost” was infected by the coronavirus so filming has to be halted at once. The crew member tested positive and Starz confirmed the news.
The current situation concerning the COVID-19 pandemic has brought a number of shows and series to a halt as production works were shut down amid the outbreak. Apparently, “Power” is also affected and it one of the latest shows to announce a delay in its filming.
In any case, when “Power” season 6 ended, it was announced that Starz will offer new stories but it will not be a continuation of the series. Rather, the TV network will release several sequels that will focus on some of the main characters in the story including Tate, Kanan and Tommy.
Sequel titles and plot
“Power Book II: Ghost” will be a backstory about James “Ghost” St. Patrick. It was reported that although the title mentioned Ghost, the main protagonist, the first two parts in the sequels will be about the female characters. Show creator, Courtney Kemp, confirmed that they will highlight Mary J. Blige’s strong character in the upcoming story.
“I have really strong female characters in a way that I am trying to push even further than what we had in the original ‘Power,’” the show creator told TV Line. “Mary J. Blige’s character is super strong and interesting, and the same is true of the lead characters in the next spinoff after that. I think women, especially women of color, but all women, are going to find really great inspiration while watching as we move forward.”
At any rate, “Power Book II: Ghost” will be followed by “Power Book III: Raising Kanan,” “Power Book IV: Influence” and finally “Power Book V: Force” where Tommy’s story after starting his new life will be revealed.
Entertainment Weekly shared that the synopsis of "Power Book II” reads: “It will pick up the narrative just days after the ‘Power’ finale. The sequel then follows Tariq navigating his new life, in which his desire to shed his father's legacy comes up against the mounting pressure to save his family."
“Power Book II: Ghost” will be out this summer as per Starz and the predicted date is on June 14.
