Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc. has expanded its offerings in the United States to include Chicken Wings as a permanent menu. This comes after the fast-food chain saw huge success in the introduction of its own chicken sandwich even sparking the “chicken sandwich war” among the leading restaurant brands including McDonald’s, KFC, Wendy’s, and Burger King.
Bloomberg reported that chicken wings will now be available at Popeyes restaurants year-round since it is here to stay. The company is said to have decided to make it a permanent option as it leans into family gatherings, sports events, and other gatherings to boost sales.
Expansion Beyond Sandwiches
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen noted that its sales surged after launching its chicken sandwich that immediately went viral on the web. Now it is betting on chicken wings and sees this as the next big thing. The chain is aiming to rival the likes of Wingstop and Bojangles in this category.
“At Popeyes, we like to challenge the status quo and are consistently redefining what’s expected from fast food brands,” Popeyes North America president, Sami Siddiqui, said in a press release. “Ghost Pepper Wings were an overnight success, followed by the addition of Sweet ‘N Spicy wings, our best-performing product since the infamous Chicken Sandwich. We know our guests want even more bold Louisiana-inspired wing flavors to choose from and are excited to see our new wings line-up take flight.”
Price, Flavors, and Release Date
Popeyes is launching three flavors for its new line of chicken wings and these will come in three new flavors: Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Honey BBQ, and Signature Hot. Customers may also get the wings in Ghost Pepper and Sweet ’N Spicy flavors that are already available in the stores.
Finally, as per CNBC, Popeyes chicken wings have been added to the menu on Wednesday, Nov. 22. They are priced at $5.99 for a six-piece ala carte order and a bit more if purchased in a meal bundle that includes drinks and sides.
