“Poldark” season 5 has been renewed and this was announced by some of the cast members, including star Eleanor Tomlinson. However, it was disclosed that this could be the series’ final run.
The show first premiered in 2015 and the second season began in September 2016. This was followed by the June 2017 premiere of the third season and the fourth was released last June 10. The fifth is expected to be the drama’s finale, Radio Times reported.
Filming
“Poldark” season 4 ended on July 29 and it was said that filming for season 5 could start as early as late September or early October. The schedule of filming also depends on the cast members’ availability for some of them have other projects to complete.
Cast Lineup
Tomlinson (Demelza Poldark) is sure to come back but it is a different story for Aidan Turner. In any case, most of the cast are still part of “Poldark” season 5, except for one. Christian Brassington (Reverend Ossie Whitworth) will not be in the drama anymore as his character was already killed off.
Is Aidan Turner returning?
As per Express, “Poldark” Season 5 might return without Aidan Turner (Captain Ross Poldark). The show’s writer, Debbie Horsfield, revealed that prior to writing the story for the next season, she needed to speak with the cast members and this was because of their schedules.
With that said, it is clear that Horsfield will write or adjust the story based on the cast’s availability to do “Poldark” season 5. “There are five more books, but BBC and the cast would need to talk about that, there are more books definitely," she explained.
What’s more, there is doubt about Aidan’s appearance on “Poldark” season 5 because he is currently starring in the West End production of “The Lieutenant of Inishmore.” It was said that the play will conclude on Sept. 8.
Air Date
BBC confirmed the renewal for “Poldark” season 5 but the network has not released any premiere date for the period drama yet. Most probably, fans can expect it in the summer of 2019. Meanwhile, viewers in the U.K. can watch it on BBC while those in the U.S. can follow the drama via PBS in either September or October.
