BOSTON, Aug. 29, 2017 -- Podium Data, Inc., creator of the Podium Data Marketplace™ today announced a new capability to further simplify data governance. Now an integral part of the intelligent data identification features within Podium – or as an add-on for existing customers – this new capability is a customizable rules engine that helps data stewards and compliance professionals discover, obfuscate and manage sensitive data.
“Our Big Data Analytics Benchmark Research shows that 39% of organizations struggle with big data deployments due to data security and governance risk issues,” said, Dave Menninger, SVP & Research Director, Ventana Research. “These new PII and PCI data detection capabilities from Podium allow CDOs and data compliance professionals to focus on best practices in data governance, not the technology of governance itself.”
Today, compliance leaders are challenged by the daunting task of data management via a multitude of workflows and interdependencies. This new capability helps businesses quickly add business-ready data into the lake while enforcing information governance across the entire spectrum including: the accuracy, integrity, consistency, accessibility, privacy, and security of data.
Born from advancements in the platform’s maturity and driven by customer demand, Podium is unmatched in its application of rich metadata, automation, and pattern recognition as the foundation for best-in-class data governance, regardless of where the data lives.
Governing Data at the Speed of Change
At the data field level, this new automated capability leverages pattern recognition to address a variety of use cases, eradicating sensitive data exploitation at its source, or from derived data sets. Using standard algorithms such as the Luhn formula or custom logic, any data can be directed to run against the Podium rules engine to identify all the locations of key data fields, such as PII, PCI data, and more.
Added flexibility allows for users to choose what to do with sensitive data – tagging relevant fields and automatically masking the data with encryption, tokenization or obfuscation techniques. This ensures that the business understands where sensitive data resides and quickly makes available protected data sets that are safe for the business to use.
To learn more about PII and the handling of sensitive information join Podium’s CTO and co-founder Bob Vecchione who’ll lead “What’s in Your Data Lake?”, a live webinar on August 31, 2017 at 2:00 pm Eastern.
