BOSTON, Mass., Feb. 06, 2018 -- Podium Data, Inc., creator of the Podium Data Marketplace™ today announced “Cloud Optimized,” a new capability as part of Podium release 3.2, which emboldens data delivery teams to embrace the elasticity, agility and financial advantages of the cloud.
“Our research shows that nearly half (44%) of organizations are operating with a hybrid data architecture including both cloud and on-premises sources,” said David Menninger, SVP and Research Director, Ventana Research. “Podium Data’s new cloud optimized capabilities will help these organizations manage the quality and consistency of the data used in their analyses regardless of its location.”
Right-sizing The Computes
Podium customers want to choose where to place their compute spending on a day-by-day, or even project-by-project basis, globally. The capabilities engineered into Podium allows them to choose what makes the most sense for their business; any combination of on premise, cloud, and hybrid.
Architected to run on premise or in the cloud, organizations can also choose to invoke Podium’s existing security features as an on-premise, secure gateway to a cloud based cluster including elastic processing. Therefore, with Podium supporting any hybrid variations, businesses are free to orchestrate data operations on their terms. This ability massively reduces data management and governance complexities while making the economics of the cloud real.
“This announcement represents a powerful advantage for businesses investing in select uses of the cloud today, and for those moving to a cloud-only strategy in the future,” said Paul Barth, CEO of Podium Data. “Unique to Podium is its platform architecture designed to separate the storage from the compute functions, enabling data delivery teams to support multiple computing variations as one.”
Podium’s architecture and patent-pending data processing techniques distinguishes itself by not requiring any cluster-side installation. This enables Podium to certify on a wide range of platforms such as MapR, Cloudera, Hortonworks, Amazon EMR and Microsoft Azure. This flexibility enables organizations to achieve near instant benefits with Podium without locking in with a specific distribution.
“Cloud has become a formidable force rapidly altering business models, project delivery, architectures, and team structures,” said Atif Majid, Co-Founder and Technologist at Podium Data. “Among all this change, Podium remains the consistent platform allowing a holistic understanding and management of all data, at all times, in all places including the cloud.”
Today’s announcement represents the third major innovation engineered into to the Podium platform in recent months.
- In September 2017, at Strata Data NYC, Podium announced Data Conductor which helps data stewards, compliance professionals and business users manage, discover, and access all data on any platform – not just Hadoop.
- In October 2017, the company released Intelligent Data Identification which is a powerful combination of a smart data catalog with a pattern recognition engine to identify duplicate data, improve data governance, and reveal potential data corruption problems.
