Following the success of the Pocophone F1 last year, people have been wondering when the Pocophone F2 will come out. Unfortunately, Xiaomi is still silent about the handset’s sequel muddying the details about its price, specs, and when it’s going to hit the market, Business Times reported.
First up is its release date. The Pocophone F1 was available for purchase on Sept. 26, 2018. If Xiaomi follows a similar pattern – and most smartphone manufacturers stick to an annual update – then the Pocophone F2 will likely be available on the same month.
Which brings us to our second point. At the moment, most smartphone enthusiasts are convinced that the Pocophone F2 and the Redmi K20 are actually the same device. The sentiment stems from the fact that the Redmi K20 has been outfitted with all the necessary upgrades for the Pocophone F1.
It has a triple-camera setup with telephoto and ultra-wide sensors, it sports the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip; the RAM is between 6GB to 8GB depending on the model; storage space is 256GB, and the battery is at 4,000 mAh. The Redmi K20 also has a fast charging feature, a headphone, and a cooling system. Given all these specifications, it’s easy to understand why a lot of people are saying that this is actually the Pocophone F2 branded only with a different name.
So why would Xiamo do such a thing? Isn’t it counterproductive to set the stage with the Pocophone F1 only to have its successor marketed under a different brand? Apparently, Chinese manufacturers have a propensity to behave in such a way, usually naming a product differently based on the region it’s being released upon, Android Authority reported. So if the rumors are true, then the Pocophone F2 will not actually be released on September but on July 15 since this is the date that the Redmi K20 will hit the market. Regarding its price, it’ll likely hover around $360 to $460 depending on the chosen model.
