LATHAM, N.Y., Aug. 09, 2017 -- Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ:PLUG), a leader in providing energy solutions that change the way the world moves, honored its veteran workforce at an award ceremony in Dayton, Ohio on August 8, 2017. At the ceremony, Plug Power and its veteran employees received accolades from the Ohio Department of Veterans Services. The company was commended for its efforts to identify, hire and retain veterans for skilled positions in its Dayton Service Center, and national service organization. Plug Power creates attractive jobs for veterans throughout the entire company. Specifically, almost one quarter of its nation-wide service team consists of veterans and military service members.
“The green-collar jobs Plug Power provides, specifically on our service team, compliment the training and discipline learned in the US military,” said Andy Marsh, CEO for Plug Power. “We are proud to have created job opportunities for our dedicated veterans who have already given so much to serve our country.”
The ceremony attracted the attention of high-level representatives from across the State of Ohio to honor Plug Power’s veterans.
“I would like to congratulate Plug Power for its efforts to help our veterans make the transition from the battlefield to civilian life,” said United States Senator Rob Portman (R)-OH. “Our veterans at times enter an unfamiliar job market requiring skills they don’t have or haven’t used in years. I have long advocated for companies to hire veterans and encouraged better workforce development programs for veterans returning home from service. Plug Power should be congratulated for its efforts.”
“Community support for veterans can’t stop once they leave the service,” said United States Senator Sherrod Brown (D)-OH. “I’m proud that Ohio companies are leading the way in helping to ease the burden for our veterans as they transition from military life to a future career path.”
"Plug Power is doing great work in the Dayton region, employing and supporting our veterans," said Representative Niraj Antani (R)-OH District 42. "We need more good corporate citizens like Plug Power in our communities."
“We are grateful to Plug Power for recognizing the valuable skills and experiences unique to our veterans,” said Col. Chip Tansill (U.S. Army, retired), representative for the Ohio Department of Veterans Services. “The men and women who have served our country are an asset to employers. It is a privilege to honor them for their service today.”
