CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Aug. 14, 2017 -- Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ:PEGA), the software company empowering customer engagement at the world’s leading enterprises, today announced the results of its joint fundraising efforts with music icon and cancer survivor Sheryl Crow. This effort raised more than $270,000 for Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a division of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, dedicated to accelerating the pace of groundbreaking cancer research to get new therapies and treatments to patients quickly and save lives now.
The fundraising drive took place during PegaWorld 2017, Pega’s annual conference in Las Vegas from June 4-7, with the help of Ms. Crow, who performed during PegaWorld and helped promote the initiative. All donations raised were matched dollar-for-dollar by Pega and the Trefler Foundation.
Cancer claims millions of lives every year and impacts even more. As the number of new cases is expected to rise by approximately 70 percent over the next two decades, initiatives like SU2C are critical in working toward a world with more long-term survivors. SU2C has brought together more than 1,200 scientists from 144 institutions to fund 20 “Dream Teams” and seven translational research teams. SU2C-funded researchers have planned, launched, or completed more than 170 clinical trials.
