Whittier Calif., Sept. 18, 2017 -- Emergency room crowding continues to be an issue throughout the United States. Providing the right level of care for non-emergent conditions in convenient community locations helps alleviate overcrowding in emergency rooms and enhance patients’ experiences. PIH Health has opened three new Urgent Care Centers in Whittier, Hacienda Heights and Santa Fe Springs which will serve patients throughout Los Angeles County, Orange County and the San Gabriel Valley region.

“Creating additional access to care for non-emergency patient visits helps decrease health care costs and wait times, and opens up vital emergency services for those with the greatest need” said PIH Health Physicians vice president of operations Andrew Zwers.
For illnesses or injuries that are not life-threatening, but can’t wait until the next day to visit the doctor, such as urinary symptoms, ear pain, eye pain and discharge, sore throat, and abdominal pain, urgent care centers provide easy access to quality healthcare. Compared to an emergency room visit for more serious conditions such as a serious head injury or possible heart attack, the reduced wait time and cost of care at an urgent care center is more beneficial for patients.
The latest PIH Health Urgent Care Center opened on August 21 when PIH Health’s new three-story, 35,076 square foot, Bloomfield Medical Office Building began seeing patients.
Two additional Urgent Care Center locations in Downey and Montebello are also expected to open in 2018. Hours of operation for all PIH Health Urgent Care Centers are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week, including holidays.
