‘Outlander’ season 4 production updates have recently teased by executive producer Maril Davis during a question and answer session. Meanwhile, author Diana Gabaldon hinted that she would be killing off her characters suggesting the end of the beloved series that follows star-crossed lovers Jamie and Claire.
According to Hidden Remote, Davis recently teased some production updates for a fourth season of the historical time travel series based on the novels authored by Diana Gabaldon. Although season 3 is currently filming in South Africa, Davis couldn’t help but spill a tiny yet exciting update on season 4. Seasons 3 and 4 were renewed on Starz last June 2016.
The trailer for season 3 featured core characters including Sam Heughan’s Jamie, Caitriona Balfe’s Claire, Tobias Menzies’ Frank, and Sophie Skelton’s Brianna. It was revealed that they will play important roles in the upcoming season. The trailer also teased Jamie hugging a mystery character.
During a question and answer session, Davis was asked whether all actors were already cast for season 4 to which she replied, “Almost.” Her reply could mean that characters such as Black Jack Randall and Roger may be returning for a fourth season run. New characters will also be introduced in season 3 and may also be appearing in subsequent seasons.
According to Den of Geek, season 4 is set to adapt Gabaldon’s novel “Drums of Autumn.” Claire and Jamie, together with Jamie’s nephew Ian, will seek to establish refuge in the colony of North Carolina. Claire, knowledgeable about the imminent revolution in America, will try to navigate dangerous circumstances with Jamie with the help of Jamie’s aunt Jocasta.
Meanwhile, season 3 is set to feature the highly anticipated reunion of Jamie and Claire that would defy time. It will also focus on their individual lives following their separation prior to the Battle of Culloden.
Diana Gabaldon, the American author known for her ‘Outlander’ series of novels, hinted that her beloved characters could soon be killed off. According to Daily Record, Gabaldon is currently working on her ninth novel in the series. She revealed that she planned to bring Claire and Jamie’s story to an end and may even kill off the characters in their storyline.
Gabaldon also admitted that she hoped the television adaptation would continue into seasons 5 and 6. She said, “I am hopeful we will get a fifth and maybe a sixth series, but we’ll just have to wait and see. I don’t know what will happen, but they might continue to use Cumbernauld for North Carolina because inside sets could be anywhere and there are enough places in Scotland that look like North Carolina.
She added, “And, of course, even though the Scots emigrated, they stayed Scottish so there will be plenty of Scots in season four regardless.”
‘Outlander’ season 4 was renewed on Starz last June 2016.
