“Outlander” season 4 episode 11 will surely be a nerve-racking chapter as the previous episode titled “The Deep Heart’s Core” ended with a cliffhanger that showed Roger (Richard Rankin) about to touch a rock that will bring him back to his time. Apparently, he was able to escape from the Mohawks and he is in a bad shape after being beaten and forced to walk long miles with very little to no food at all.
“Outlander” season 4 episode 11 is called “If Not For Hope” and its synopsis reads: “Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian embark on a long uncertain journey to rescue Roger, while Brianna forges a friendship with one of Jamie's old friends as she fends off Aunt Jocasta's attempts to secure a husband."
As mentioned, there would be three stories in “Outlander” season 4 episode 11 and these are: 1) Jamie, Claire and Ian’s search for Roger; 2) Brianna (Sophie Skelton) getting a new suitor named Gerald Forbes (Billy Boyd) after temporarily settling in River Run; and 3) Murtagh and Fergus hunting for Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speelers) after Jaime (Sam Heughan) asked them to do so.
Avid viewers know that Brianna already found out that Jaime mistook Roger as the one who raped her in Wilmington. She also learned that her father beat up him up badly and Ian confessed that he sold Roger to the Mohawks at the end of “Outlander” season 4 episode 10.
Now, Brianna asked her parents to bring him back and Jaime and Claire promised her they would find and bring him back to her. The search will require a long journey and, since Brianna and Lizzie would be left alone in their home, Jaime suggested for her daughter to stay in River Run where it would be safer.
Moreover, Brianna, despite not being sure if Roger is the father of her unborn child - it could be Stephen Bonnet who molested her - still chose to keep her baby. On the other hand, Roger was able to escape and run into the wilderness. While on the run, he stumbled upon a big rock formation and he knew that he can go back to his time through it.
Roger is tormented because he had not seen Brianna but he is also being hunted down by his captors. “Outlander” season 4 episode 11 will reveal whether he decided to touch the stone and leave or he would stay and find Brianna.
