‘Outlander’ season 2’s episode 13 will feature two story arcs. One will be set in the present day while the other will focus on the Battle of Culloden. In the present day, Claire is forced to reveal the truth about her daughter Brianna’s parentage.
The official synopsis for episode 13 posted on Carter Matt stated, “Flashing forward to 1968, Claire travels to Scotland with her twenty-year-old daughter, Brianna, and meets Roger Wakefield. Claire visits Lallybroch and Culloden Moor to make peace with the past, while Brianna and Roger bond over researching Randall family history. Claire finally reveals the truth to Brianna about her time travel through the stones, her life in 1700’s Scotland, and Brianna’s true parentage.”
It added, “…The story is intercut with another one back in the 18th century, which happens on the day of the Battle of Culloden. When Jamie’s last ditch attempts to deter The Prince fail, he and Claire come up with a dangerous plan – which Dougal overhears, inciting him to a murderous rage. Jamie must do everything he can to save the ones he loves, even if it means saying goodbye to some—or all—of them.”
It was suggested that the appearance of an adult Brianna “Bree” Randall McKenzie Fraser (Sophie Skelton) and Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin) in season 2 will be essential to the storyline in later episodes. Brianna, Claire’s daughter, will finally learn the truth about her real father but refuses to accept it. However, Roger becomes intrigued about Claire’s time travel story.
According to Hall of Fame Magazine, Claire and Brianna meet an adult Roger in Lallybroch. Roger helps Claire find out what happened to the men who fought in the Battle of Culloden and they both discover that Jamie survived. When Claire finds Jamie’s tombstone while searching for Jonathan Randall’s grave, she is forced to tell Briana that Jamie is her real father and not Frank.
Episode 13’s promo opens with Jamie (Sam Heughan) realizing that the Battle of Culloden is inevitable. In the next scene, Jamie tries to convince Claire (Caitriona Balfe) to leave despite her hesitant pleas. She finally goes with Jamie after sensing imminent danger. The promo ends with the two trying to reconcile with the fact that they may not see each other again.
‘Outlander’ season 2, episode 13 is scheduled to premiere on Starz on July 9, 2016. It was revealed that the finale will run for 90 minutes instead of the usual 60 minutes.
