OpenAI has begun rolling out an Advanced Voice Mode for ChatGPT Plus users, enhancing real-time conversations with sophisticated voice capabilities. This feature, set to be fully accessible by autumn, includes advanced emotion comprehension and four preset voices, promising a more human-like experience.
OpenAI's New Voice Mode Enhances ChatGPT Plus with Advanced Conversational Abilities, Ethical Standards Reinforced
Since its inception, OpenAI has maintained a prominent presence in the news due to its revolutionary approach to Artificial Intelligence and the ChatGPT model. The company has consistently improved the AI language model by implementing advanced updates and features that provide users with more contextual and pertinent responses. In May, the company announced that it would shortly introduce a Voice Mode on ChatGPT to facilitate more personalized and human-like conversations, furthering its commitment to continuous improvement. Some users have now begun to receive the highly anticipated Advanced Voice Mode.
In May, OpenAI demonstrated the creation of a new Advanced Voice Mode for ChatGPT, enabling users to engage in more natural conversations in real-time. The company's commitment to ethical standards was evident when it removed the AI-generated voice, Sky, which bore an uncanny resemblance to Scarlet Johansson, following the controversy. This action reaffirms OpenAI's dedication to responsible AI development.
On X, OpenAI disclosed that it had initiated the deployment of the Voice Mode to a limited number of ChatGPT Plus users for testing purposes. The new feature is anticipated to be accessible to all ChatGPT Plus subscribers by the autumn, as it will continue to add users. This AI tool is significantly more sophisticated than ChatGPT's current vocal mode, as it can comprehend emotions and a wide range of situations and respond accordingly, resulting in a more authentic and human-like experience.
OpenAI Enhances Voice Mode with Stringent Quality Standards and Privacy Measures, Adds Four New Preset Voices
As per the post, OpenAI has extensively tested the GPT-4o's voice capabilities with over 100 external red teamers in 45 different languages, resulting in a more stringent quality standard and enhanced privacy and security measures. The Advanced Mode will include four preset voices: Juniper, Cove, Ember, and Breeze. The ChatGPT Sky voice has been removed following the controversy.
The preset voices currently in use do not resemble or imitate any celebrities, and any voice that does not correspond to the four voices that the Advanced Mode is programmed to communicate with will be blocked by a built-in system. According to Wccftech, to prevent the generation of copyrighted content or the misuse of the voice, OpenAI has implemented filters and guardrails to prevent users from generating such content. At the event, additional multi-modal capabilities, including video and screen-sharing, were demonstrated; however, they are not currently included in the alpha version and will be added in the future.
In August, the organization intends to provide a more comprehensive report regarding the safety precautions implemented, the capability of the feature, and its constraints. This proactive approach to safety measures is designed to ensure the security and privacy of all users. The guidelines and a message in the mobile app will be emailed to the selected ChatGPT Plus users. Therefore, if you are a paid ChatGPT subscriber, you must be vigilant for an email notification.
