The OnePlus Nord series is getting two refresh phones this year. The company confirmed that the OnePlus Nord Core Edition (CE) 5G is launching next month for customers in India and Europe, while the OnePlus Nord N200 will come to the United States and Canada.
Earlier this week, the official Instagram page for OnePlus Nord confirmed that a launch event is set for new devices in summer. It was later confirmed that the OnePlus Nord CE 5G will be unveiled on Thursday, June 10, at 7 p.m. IST / 4 p.m. CEST.
The official OnePlus page for India has also provided more details about its release timeline for the device and other products. Pre-order for the OnePlus Nord CE 5G will be available through Red Cable on June 11. The “Open Sale” will then follow on June 16.
Details about the OnePlus Nord N200 release timeline are still unclear. But taking hints from the OnePlus Nord release dates from last year, it could take a few months before US and Canada customers get to see the device. The first OnePlus Nord became available in early August 2020, but the OnePlus Nord N100 did not arrive in stores until November.
Technical specifications, features, designs of the OnePlus Nord CE 5G and OnePlus Nord N200 are still under wraps, especially for the latter. But the company has provided a few hints on how it would compare with its successor. As the branding “Core Edition” suggests, the device is said to retain the “core features” of the 2020 device while adding “some unexpected extras.”
OnePlus also hinted that the OnePlus Nord CE 5G will have a lower introductory price. In describing the upcoming smartphone, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau told TechRadar, “We have distilled the original Nord down to its core elements, and added a few extra features to create a great everyday phone at an even more affordable price.” The first Nord launched with a price tag of £379 / €399 / ₹24,999.
The OnePlus Nord CE 5G will obviously launch with 5G network, but the SoC to be used is still unknown. The first OnePlus Nord shipped with Snapdragon 765G and the OnePlus Nord N100 was powered by Snapdragon 460.
