OnePlus 8 is expected to be OnePlus’ next flagship smartphone. It might not be released until 2020 that means there is plenty of time for the company to develop new features for the anticipated device.
It is understandable for tech fans to expect great things from OnePlus 8 just based on what the company has created in the OnePlus 7 series. The latter was just announced this month and, for the first time, the smartphone maker is offering a “Pro” variant with exclusive, high-end features.
These list of features could hint at future offerings in OnePlus 8. The base model OnePlus 7 sports the raindrop-shaped display notch to house the front-facing camera and to make the bezels as thin as possible. But this one is not especially surprising since this design was already introduced in the OnePlus 6T.
This feature is easily topped by the OnePlus 7 Pro by completely abandoning the notch and placing the camera on a motorized pop-up module. Now, fans would be expecting something on par or something greater in terms of the OnePlus 8 design. But it might take a while before early renders would be leaked online.
OnePlus 7 Pro also features a triple-lens rear camera setup. So it is safe to assume that OnePlus 8 will likely have the same number of lenses or even more. It is also worth noting that the latest series of OnePlus smartphones has a minimum of 6GB RAM so fans should expect nothing less for 2020.
Every year OnePlus uses the latest Snapdragon mobile platform for its new smartphones. For example, the OnePlus 7 series is powered by the Snapdragon 855 clocked at 2.84 GHz. This tradition will most likely be maintained for OnePlus 8.
Obviously, the next big smartphone trend is foldable displays. In fact, Google has been developing Android Q to support this feature. However, it is unclear whether or not OnePlus will soon use this innovation for OnePlus 8.
