OnePlus has good news for American fans of the mid-range smartphone manufacturer regarding their much-awaited upgrade to their 2018 flagship handset. The Chinese brand has gained a dedicated following for their phones but has not had enough reach in the North American market to become a household name. But OnePlus' marketing direction in North America may significantly change that.
According to CNET, OnePlus will be working with T-Mobile as the brand's exclusive U.S. carrier partner with the upcoming OnePlus 6T. A version of the OnePlus 6T will also be optimized for T-Mobile for the specific partnership.
While T-Mobile will be the exclusive carrier of OnePlus 6Ts specifically for their smart phone plans, OnePlus will still manufacture OnePlus 6T global models that will be able to use AT&T and other international networks upon release.
OnePlus' partnership with T-Mobile can help the foreign phone brand become a household name amongst T-Mobile users due to its affordability and competitive specifications and features. Still, success in partnering up with T-Mobile is not guaranteed as network sales professionals may sometimes opt to include a competitor's phone rather than a relatively unknown brand to close a deal as soon as possible.
Fans of OnePlus are hoping that the OnePlus 6T will implement features not present on the OnePlus 6 when it was released back in May. With the possible addition of features such as wireless charging, in-screen fingerprint scanning functionality and the removal of the hated screen notch, customers of T-Mobile may find a competitive mid-range phone at a lower budget compared to the usual patronized brands.
While the OnePlus 6T has yet to have an official release date, fans of the alternative smartphone can look towards Q4 of this year, similar to the release schedule of OnePlus' earlier models and their upgraded versions.
