After such a long arc, “One Piece” Episode 854 might finally see several aspects of this segment of the Straw Hats’ journey wrapping up. Big Mom might finally get her cake after nearly wrecking the Sunny and Luffy might finally give Katakuri the beating that he has been asking for. What’s more, Jinbei might finally become part of the crew, if only in an unofficial capacity.
If the manga series is any indication, “One Piece” Episode 854 should be right around the spot where the Big Mom arc starts to wind down. A huge part of the arc is about the pirate emperor chasing after the Straw Hats and she finally catches up to them in this episode. In her rage and hunger, she will threaten everyone on the Sunny with death unless they bring out her cake.
Of course, the cake is not on the ship but rather, on another that is headed right for her. “One Piece” Episode 854 might actually be the episode where the long-awaited pastry is delivered to the yonko’s big mouth. If so, this would be an indication that the arc really is close to ending.
During this period, Jinbei will also be instrumental in helping the Straw Hats avoid death, which proves how dedicated he has become to his new friends. Fans of the series might remember that Luffy extended an invitation to the Fishman to join their crew and Jinbei did not outright decline. That’s why his participation in the “One Piece” Episode 854 battle can be taken as a way of him being an unofficial Straw Hat.
If Big Mom really does end up getting her cake in “One Piece” Episode 854, this should also be right about the time that Luffy finally defeats Katakuri. This is if the animators stick to the timeline. Viewers will see this soon enough when the episode airs on Dec. 9.
