“One Piece” chapter 917 is now looking like it will be the best installment since the Wano arc started. With the encounter of Trafalgar Law and Basil Hawkins as well as Luffy and Holdem, fans have many reasons to hope for an epic battle soon.
Previous several chapters have been teasing the reunion of Law and Luffy. But the leader of the Heart Pirates was forced to speed up their travel after seeing Luffy in trouble. Interestingly, Luffy does not know yet that Law is also in Wano. But they might finally be together in “One Piece” chapter 917.
There are several indications that Law is closing in on Bakura where Luffy is. At the end of chapter 916, it was revealed that Hawkins had come across the Heart Pirates and is planning to approach them. Obviously, this story will be continued in “One Piece” chapter 917.
Hawkins correctly guessed that Law and his crew are not part of the Straw Hat Pirates. With that, Hawkins ordered his men to approach and ask them questions in a decent way. But this might change once Hawkins learns that Law is one of the best allies Luffy has. Fans might once again witness Hawkins’ Devil Fruit in action in “One Piece” chapter 917 against Law.
On the other hand, there was nothing diplomatic about Luffy and Holdem’s first meeting in chapter 916. With Tama trapped in Holdem’s lion head, a battle between the Beasts headliner and Luffy is undoubtedly in order and fans can only hope that “One Piece” chapter 917 is the time that it is happening.
Fans may have also noticed something odd about Hawkins. Though he previously fought with Luffy and Zoro, he eventually decided to let them escape even when he had the upper hand. Unlike Holdem, Hawkins was once again quite friendly with the Heart Pirates in the previous chapter. So even if an epic battle is a common speculation for “One Piece” chapter 917 at the moment, there are still theories that Hawkins might be wanting to team up with Luffy and Law to escape Kaido for good.
As Eiichiro Oda confirmed in chapter 916, there will be a one-week break before the release of “One Piece” chapter 917. Is this another clue that a blockbuster fight is happening next? It is possible. “One Piece” chapter 917 will be released on Sept. 15.
