It looks like “One Piece” Chapter 969 will finally feature one of the most highly-anticipated events in the manga. After returning to Wano Country and discovering how badly Orochi was running the place, Oden will finally meet his match, the Yonko Kaido.
After weeks of waiting, “One Piece” Chapter 968 finally arrived. Titled “Oden’s Return,” the chapter proved that most of the speculations were indeed spot on.
For instance, Roger disbanded Roger’s Pirate. It was a necessary step as Roger already became so well-known and his discovery of the treasure One Piece was known to all. Other groups were already planning to attack the Roger Pirates to get their hands on the treasure.
The recent installment did not yet feature Roger voluntarily surrendering to the World Government or having his final talk with Whitebeard. There is a chance that the two events might be covered in “One Piece” Chapter 699 or later chapters.
As predicted by previous “One Piece” spoilers, Oden finally returned to Wano to reunite with his wife Toke and their children Momonosuke and Hiyori. Oden was initially wondering why everyone seems to be friendly to him despite his selfish action of slipping away from the country years ago to explore the world. It turned out that Toki had such PR skills that everyone in Kuri was enthralled by her stories of Oden’s adventures.
But then the problems started to come out. His subordinates narrated how Oden’s father appointed Orochi as the regent while Oden was away.
Oden was likewise perplexed why his father thought of Orochi as very close to him “They said that Orochi is like a brother to me?” Oden asked bewildered. “I was only lending him money because he was brought up by Yasu-san.”
Then Oden also learned how Orochi put up weapon factories in each village and basically forced people into labor. When asked why they listed to Orochi, Oden was told that it was because of the man called Kaido.
“A man called Kaido has been backing him,” one of Oden’s subordinates narrated. “And that strength, indeed he is worthy of being called a monster.”
And then Oden learned how Kaido raided Kuri and tried to murder Momonosuke. As a result of trying to defend their children, Toki was even wounded in her leg, pierced by an arrow. At this point, it’s probably safe to conclude that Oden now sees Kaido as an enemy whom he will deal with in the coming “One Piece” Chapter 969.
An enraged Oden then stormed the Flower Capital and killed all of Orochi’s guards. The last page of the manga shows Orochi desperately pleading to Oden to listen. “If you cut me down, Kaido won’t stay quiet.”
But Orochi realizes that reasoning out with Oden won’t probably work. “That’s right, this guy is crazy,” Orochi thought.
Of course, the fact that Orochi is still alive to this day means that something will happen in “One Piece” Chapter 969 that prevented Oden from killing him. It is likely Kaido himself who will save Orochi from death. Finally, the Yonko-level war that everyone’s been clamoring will start next chapter.
