‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 6, Episode 17 Spoilers: “Awake” – Snow, David may Rewrite History to Protect Family; Hook Allies with Tiger Lily to Escape Neverland

‘Once Upon A Time’ season 6’s episode 17, titled “Awake,” will follow Snow and David as they are given the opportunity to rewrite history forever in order to protect their family. However, this may affect Emma’s fate of becoming the Savior. Meanwhile, Hook will team up with Tiger Lily in order to escape Neverland and return to Emma.

The synopsis for episode 17 posted on Cartermatt reads, ““Still trapped in Neverland, Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) aligns himself with Tiger Lily (Sara Tomoko), hoping to find a way back to Emma (Jennifer Morrison).

Back in Storybook, Regina (Lana Parilla) works to break the sleeping curse that David (Josh Dallas) and Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) are under, and Gold (Robert Carlyle) denies The Black Fairy (Jaime Murray), which brings the two of them to a fearsome impasse.

In flashbacks, we learn what Snow and Charming sacrificed in order for Emma to fulfill her destiny as the Savior.”

The promo opens to Emma and Snow in the woods as they face the fearsome Black Fairy head-on. The Black Fairy then tells the two, “Emma, I created the Dark Curse. You were born to break it.”

It was then revealed that the only way Snow and David could ever protect their family is to travel back in time and rewrite history as they know it. The only problem is doing so would bring in drastic consequences for the present, including Emma never becoming the Savior that she was destined to be.

In the final scenes, Gold is seen warning Snow and David, “Find Emma now… the curse will never be broken and everyone will be trapped forever.”

It seems that the upcoming episode will be an action-packed one for the characters of ABC’s popular fantasy-drama television series as the season nears its conclusion. Hook will continue his efforts in escaping Neverland by teaming up with Tiger Lily while Regina works to break the sleeping curse that has taken over David and Snow. Gold and his mother, the Black Fairy, will also clash after Gold denies her.

The Black Fairy, also known as the Dark Fairy, debuted in season 6’s episode 9, titled “Changelings.” Gold was revealed to be the Black Fairy and Peter Pan’s son. Although she arrived in the series much later, it was established that the Black Fairy has been involved since the beginning of the series since she was the reason the Dark Curse existed in the first place.

Parilla, who plays Regina a.k.a. the Evil Queen, told Entertainment Weekly that the Black Fairy may be the most wicked villain the series has ever featured. The actress said, “She is, by far, the most powerful force of evil we’ve ever encountered.”

She continued, “We know that she is Rumple’s mom, so we can only imagine how much darkness she possesses, and she probably taught him everything he knows somehow, but I think she’s also unknown, and she’s a new character for us to experience. So the residents of Storybrooke, especially our heroes, are a bit taken back, and not quite sure how to stop her.”

Executive producer Edward Kitsis added, “She is way more powerful [than past villains]… Also, she’s Rumple’s mother, so there’s an emotional connection. The Black Fairy is almost a different level because she is almost no longer human; she’s part fairy. She’s the only fairy that’s fallen from fairyland. In a lot of ways, we look at her as the devil, in a sense.”

‘Once Upon A Time’ season 6’s episode 17, titled “Awake,” is scheduled to air on ABC on April 16, 2017. It was directed by Sharat Raju and written by Andrew Chambliss and Leah Fong. It will be followed by episode 18, titled "Where Bluebirds Fly," scheduled to be released on April 23 and written by David H. Goodman and Brigitte Hales.
