VALHALLA, N.Y. and SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J., Aug. 08, 2017 -- Today, New York Medical College and Touro College of Pharmacy announced the wider availability of their joint Continuing Medical Education (CME) course, Principles of Genomics and Introduction to Personalized Medicine. The course which premiered live on March 21st, has been archived and is available through webinar with the goal of providing the medical community more exposure to pharmacogenomics (PGx). The CME course was made possible by an educational grant from molecular diagnostic company, Admera Health (www.admerahealth.com).
The course introduces the principles of PGx; specifically, how genetic variability can lead to different drug responses. The course then provides specific clinical case studies in the therapeutic areas of cardiology, oncology, psychiatry, and pain management. Other topics covered are Electronic Health Records and Reimbursement.
