New ‘Overwatch’ Hero ‘Ana,’ Best One Yet?

“Overwatch” players would already be aware by now that a new hero has been introduced to the game, and her name is “Ana.” According to her backstory, the latest addition to the combatant roster is “Pharah’s” mother, and she also has connections to other champions like “Reaper” and “Mercy.” Interesting details aside, it would also seem that “Ana” is bringing a considerable amount of fun to the game, at least that’s what the upbeat feedback indicates.

As Gamespresso explains it, “Ana’s” contribution to the thrilling dynamic already present in “Overwatch” includes a biotic sniper shit, biotic grenades, and a sleep dart. Depending on who she shoots, “Ana’s” sniper rifle will either incapacitate or heal the target. The same goes for her grenades. In case it isn’t clear, though, the sleep dart only induces the effect expected of it.

Finally, “Ana’s” ultimate acts as a massive doping charge, which essentially boosts the agility, speed, and durability of an ally. This can then lead to more versatility in terms of making non-tank characters into effective damage absorbers while making actual tank characters into almost indestructible juggernauts for a limited time.

This has led players and gaming sites to praise the new addition to no end, quickly becoming the internet’s favorite “Overwatch” champion. Nathan Grayson over at Kotaku played the character for a little over an hour, and he writes that “she is, so far, damn fun to play.”

Noting in particular how Blizzard effectively made into gold one of the funniest FPS tropes about shooting people with love, “Ana’s” place in the world of “Overwatch” adds even more joy to her already enjoyable character.

On that note, it would seem that developers also revealed the next champions that will be added to the game when the reveal trailer for “Ana” was released. Gamespresso noted how in one image, 8 out of 10 figures were recognizable, while the man and woman on opposite ends of the group are not. Is it possible that these are the much-talked-about “Sombra” and “Liao?”
