While security cameras are not exactly the sexiest topics in the tech industry, they nevertheless play an important role in society, which is why companies are still innovating in this sector. One of the standout offerings that just came to light is the “Arlo Pro,” which is the new wireless security camera by Netgear. While it does have other impressive features, its substantial battery life that can last for six months on one charge is the most notable.
Getting excited about security cameras is an uncommon thing, but this isn’t stopping Netgear from trying its hardest to attract attention, Engadget reports. It does so by checking practically every requirement box that customers normally have for security cameras and then some.
The “Arlo Pro” has a video coverage angle of 130 degrees, is waterproof, and comes with a two-way microphone and speaker system. The camera itself has motion sensors, which allows it to start recording as soon as it detects movement in the area and it can send out an alert on the user’s mobile phones.
Since the camera system is wireless, it can be placed in any location in and around the home or building for as long as it remains within range. With its various features, it can also withstand heavy rains, can be used as an intercom, can blast alarms when detecting intruders, and can be viewed via Apple TV. Best of all, users will only need to charge the camera twice a year, instantly making the “Arlo Pro” one of the standout security products this year.
As Tech Times notes, the software update for the camera that’s available for download is important in keeping the annoyance level pertaining to the mobile alert notifications to a minimum. It basically allows the motion detection system to differentiate what constitutes a noteworthy incident. Cats and dogs won’t cause an alert, but a person will.
