“Narcos” season 4 will feature a new setting and, from the name of the place, it is titled “Narcos: Mexico.” It will be kind of a reboot as many things have changed apart from the location.
Now, Netflix wants to boost fans’ excitement so it released “Narcos” season 4’s first full trailer. In the video, the popular streaming site might be feeling a little more generous so it also revealed its premiere date.
“Narcos” season 4 is set to return on Nov. 16 and it will shift from its original Colombia and Pablo Escobar narrative. EconoTimes reported that showrunner Eric Newman stated that the reason for the move to a new place is that Mexico is where drug cartels began.
Moreover, they needed to feature the said country as it is crucial to “Narcos” season 4’s plot. This time, the series will tackle the origins of the drug trade so it will focus on the rise of the infamous Guadalajara Cartel in the '80s.
"The origins of the Guadalajara cartel are in the late 1970s and early 1980s, so Narcos is going back in time," Newman told The Hollywood Reporter
Since “Narcos” season 4 is like a reset of the previous seasons, it will also come with a new set of actors to play the leads. Diego Luna and Michael Pena have been tapped to play Felix Gallardo and Kiki Camarena, respectively.
The former will act as the new crime boss who operates a drug cartel while the latter is the undercover DEA agent who tries his best to stop the illegal drug trade and demolish the organization led by Gallardo.
The Trailer
The first full trailer of “Narcos” season 4 shows an action-packed new season. There are drama, interesting characters, and suspense brought about by events happening without consideration for what is right and proper.
The 42-second clip also highlights the contrasting characters of Felix Gallardo and Kiki Camarena. Based on the trailer, we can expect to see a more stylish setup and drama that will tell the story of the police and cartels as they engage in a cat-and-mouse battle.
