‘NCIS’ season 17 episode 14: Torres’ life hangs in the balance

NCIS / Facebook

“NCIS” season 17 episode 14 appears to be a bit different compared to other episodes in the series. While the team usually investigates crimes that happened to other parties, the victim in the next episode will be one of their own.

A brief “NCIS” season 17 episode 14 trailer shows just how it happened and who that victim would be. Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Bishop (Emily Wickersham) are out for a job on a sunny morning in a quiet neighborhood.

As they arrive at a curve in the round, a sleek black sports car suddenly appears seemingly out of nowhere. The driver probably did not have enough time to stop. While it’s not shown on the screen, one can hear the sudden screeching of brakes and what sounds like the car colliding into something or someone.

The next scene in the “NCIS” season 17 episode 14 trailer seems to suggest that the car did hit someone. Bishop only has a minor injury and appears to be okay, since she is still able to talk, save for some plaster bandage on her forehead.

Torres, on the other hand, is not okay at all. “How is he?” Gibbs (Mark Harmon) asks upon arriving at the hospital. “It’s bad,” was the only response Bishop could offer.

Torres is then shown lying down on the hospital with his eyes closed. He is wearing an oxygen mask suggesting that the injuries he received must be serious. “You hang in there,” Gibbs tells his unconscious subordinate.

The scene changes and is replaced with one where doctors are busy trying to revive Torres. One can see from the bedside monitor that he is flatlining and his heart rate is zero. “He’s crashing!” shouts one of the medical personnel trying to save Torres.

With Torres’ life hanging in the balance, there are some speculations saying that perhaps it might be a hint that actor Wilmer Valderrama might be leaving the show. “While we haven’t heard anything that suggests that Wilmer Valderrama is leaving the show, they obviously want that to be something that we’re worried about,” CarterMatt wrote.

The publication then when on to note that there was already one instance where an “NCIS” cast abruptly left the show seemingly without warning. Fans of the series were shocked when Lucas Black, one of the show’s original cast members, left the show last year.

“’On Fire’ – After Torres and Bishop are victims of a hit-and-run, Torres fights for his life in the ICU, on NCIS, Tuesday, Jan. 28 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network,” the synopsis reads.
