After a three-week break, “NCIS” Season 17 is finally back with its episode 11 set to air on January 7, 2020. The episode is titled “In The Wind” and will see the return of actress Cote de Pablo who will reprise her role as Ziva.
Before heading off to Paris to be with her family Ziva decides to help Mark Harmon’s character Gibbs first, PopCulture reported. After all, it was due to Gibbs killing Phineas’ mom Sarah that allowed Ziva to come out in the open once more.
In December’s episode, Gibbs understandably hesitated before telling Phineas that Sarah is dead. But it seems that the 11-year-old boy might be in some kind of trouble as the preview of the upcoming episode suggests that he has gone missing.
Gibbs would try to talk Ziva out of helping him search the boy. Instead, he will suggest that she should go to Paris to be with her family.
“Ziva, all these years, you've had one goal,” Gibbs told Ziva. “To reunite with your family. Go to Paris.”
But Ziva would insist to stay until the case is solved and Phineas is found. “I know how much this boy means to you, Gibbs,” she responded. “Paris can wait.”
‘NCIS’ Season 17 episode 11 also marks that last appearance of Cote de Pablo. This means that she might be getting more screen time than usual to help tie up some loose ends before her departure from the show.
Cote de Pablo’s character was previously killed in the series but there are a number of tried and tested methods to justify bringing a supposedly dead character back into a series. Once the details have been ironed out, she was back on board for a five-episode arc.
“Well, obviously, a lot changed because Michael’s no longer there,” the actress commented that it felt a bit different at first because of the absence of her previous co-workers, CheatSheet reported. “It’s part of the dynamic of a very long-running show. People come. People go.”
But she also loved meeting the batch of “NCIS” actors. “And then, new people come in,” Cote de Pablo added. “And, I have to say, the new people are great. Meeting Wilmer [Valderrama] was fantastic, and Emily [Wickersham] was fantastic, and they were really sweet. And, they made me feel very welcomed and loved.”
“NCIS” Season 17 episode 11 will air on Tuesday, January 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
