All hands on deck in the NCIS headquarters to save Director Vance (Rocky Carroll). But without substantial leads and a fuming kidnapper, will Vance survive this ordeal in the premiere of “NCIS” season 16?
Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his agents will continue dealing with a new baddie as soon as “NCIS” season 16 premieres. This villain was introduced in the previous season’s finale and later managed to kidnap Vance without the NCIS agents knowing.
Teasers confirmed that “NCIS” season 16 picks up a month after Vance disappeared and they seem to be getting nowhere in saving the director. In the official trailer, Bishop (Emily Wickersham) and Gibbs are seen communicating with Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) through the MTAC and they all do not look hopeful.
Torres is calling from a military base in the middle of a desert and brings Bishop and Gibbs the bad news. The former undercover agent tells his fellow agents that he has been following Vance’s trail but still gets no luck in finding him. Nothing comes easy in the “NCIS” season 16 premiere.
While Vance is being tortured, McGee (Sean Murray) tells Gibbs about a number of “extremists waiting to be activated.” Then, in the latter part of “NCIS” season 16 premiere trailer, Gibbs stares at a huge explosion near his home. All these events are likely linked to Vance's kidnapper and will probably divide the attention of NCIS, thus putting Vance’s life in greater danger.
Almost all of “NCIS's” season premiere episodes featured an ordeal that seemed impossible to solve. But the team of agents led by Gibbs always manages to finish the job. Season 15 was the most interesting since the one in danger was Gibbs along with McGee. But both characters are practically the foundation of the team so fans knew that they would eventually be saved. However, the same cannot be said for Vance in “NCIS” season 16.
Some suggest that while Vance is a series regular, the character does not play the main role credits like Gibbs and McGee do. This means that there is a greater tendency for the showrunners to decide to kill him off if it will provide a thrilling running storyline for the rest of the episodes in “NCIS” season 16. While Vance is in danger, Ducky and Fornell are confirmed to return to the show, which starts airing on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
