“NCIS: New Orleans Season 5” has painted a rather skewed image of young people in its latest episode and it will be doing so again in the upcoming episode 8. In the recently aired episode 7, for example, the show’s characters went up against college students and their professor. In the episode to air next week, they’ll be dealing with a teenaged gang member. Does this show have a conservative agenda or are these episodes a reflection of reality?
In the seventh episode of “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5, CarterMatt notes that the episode features students taking their message of protest a little too far. The main theme of this particular story appears to be that of extremism taken to the brink of sanity. In the case of the student protestors, the nurturing of anger and pursuit of change results in two deaths due to an explosion.
With “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 having dealt with other types of criminals, so far, it doesn’t appear that the show itself is biased against young people. However, showing an episode of such a nature in episode 7 is ill-timed with the current political climate. Student protests are among the biggest targets by conservative politicians for stoking fears in their bases.
Speaking of which, the eighth episode of “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 will also feature yet another favorite of Republicans for slinging mud at; teen gang members. In the synopsis featured over at TV Guide, the team will need to protect an informant who just happens to be a high-school gang member.
“The NCIS team places Mateo Diaz, a high-school gang member-turned-informant, in protective custody while they investigate the murder of his junior reserve officers' training corps instructor,” the synopsis reads.
The seventh episode of “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 is already available. However, “NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 episode 8 is scheduled to air on Nov. 20, on CBS.
