CBS's crime procedural drama spinoff recently confirmed that Geoffrey Owens will be making a guest appearance on “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5.
Fans can expect Owens to play the role of Commander Adams – an old colleague of Dwayne Pride's (Scott Bakula) whom the show's lead goes to for advice on medical and spiritual matters. “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5 executive producer Christopher Silber describes Owens as the perfect fit for the character of Commander Adams, adding that the actor exemplified the traits of compassion, competence, and heart.
While best known for his role as Elvin Tibideaux on “The Cosby Show,” Owens has also appeared on “That's So Raven” and “It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.” But ever since the Trader Joe's photograph issue, Owens has recently had an increased number of offers for new television roles. Aside from the confirmed guest appearance on “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5, Owens' first recent return-to-television offer came from filmmaker Tyler Perry to star in a recurring role on Perry's “The Haves and The Have Nots.”
The “Cosby Show” alum mentions in an interview with People that Bill Cosby being convicted of sexual assault was part of the reason why Owens worked at Trader Joe's. Cosby's conviction meant that the popular family show, which sent Owens royalty checks, had been pulled from syndication. Fans can expect Owens to appear on the sixth episode of “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5, which is due to air sometime in October.
Geoffrey Owens isn't the only guest star that fans can expect from “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5. Mark Harmon's Leroy Gibbs has also been confirmed to come back to the show as a crossover guest star on the “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5 premiere episode. This isn't the first time that Mark Harmon – who is also one of the show's executive producers – has guest starred on the show.
Fans of the show looking forward to Geoffrey Owens' guesting debut as well as Mark Harmon's return to the show can catch “NCIS: New Orleans” season 5 when its premiere episode airs on Sept. 25.
