E3 2019 already concluded but “NBA 2K20” was not included in the games that were announced at the convention. It may not be out of the ordinary, but there are speculations that the game could be released much later than usual. However, a photo was leaked recently suggesting that the game would arrive within the first week of September.
In IGN’s list of E3 2019 absentees, the report mentioned about rumors that “NBA 2K20” might break the series cycle. That could either mean the game would be out at a different release date window or that it could miss the entire year altogether. However, in late May, Bleacher Report Gaming shared a photo of a cardboard standee that appears to be promotional material for “NBA 2K20.”

It appears to be a life-size standee featuring Miami Heat retiree Dwyane Wade suggesting that he was chosen to be the “NBA 2K20” Legend Edition cover athlete. The same leaked photo shows release date that says, “Available September 6.” It is essential to note the previous iteration of the games in recent years were all made available in early September. So even if this information still needs confirmation from 2K Games and Visual Concepts, the details seem plausible.
There are a couple of major gaming conventions to happen before the said date such as Gamescom 2019 on Aug. 20 and PAX West on Aug. 30. But it is also very possible that 2K Games will hold a standalone event to announce “NBA 2K20” at a much earlier date so there could be enough time for fans to pre-order the game. Developers typically offer various bundles of the game with exclusive perks such as early access that could help boost sales.
The above tweet was not the first leak and “NBA 2K20” teaser that surfaced online. Several months ago, a couple of WNBA players revealed that they are going to be part of the upcoming game. It is still unclear if they are going to be part of the roster or if that means “NBA 2K20” will allow gamers to have women MyPlayers.
