Lenovo’s Motorola phone brand is reportedly working on an upcoming low-end smartphone that could be named Moto G22. Based on its leaked technical specifications, the device might not offer some of the latest mobile technologies but it is equipped with a 50MP main camera.
The Moto G22 is expected to be the new entry-level product in the Moto G series. Its reported specs also suggested it is an ample successor of last year’s Moto G20.
WinFuture reports that the Moto G22 will be equipped with four rear-facing cameras. Joining the 50MP sensor is an 8MP ultra-wide lens and two 2MP cameras for depth and macro shots. Motorola is also expected to improve the selfie camera by adding a 16MP lens. Despite the larger main camera, the device is expected to capture videos at Full HD only.
The same report notes that the Moto G22 is designed for smartphone users who opt for lower prices and do not mind missing out on premium features such as 5G network. It is expected to be priced below €200 (~$221), but a release date or launch window was not mentioned in the leak. However, it is worth noting that the Moto G20 was unveiled in April last year.
The Moto G22 is rumored to be powered by an entry-level chipset from MediaTek. The device is expected to use the announced octa-core Helio G37 clocked at 2.3GHz and with PowerVR GE8320 GPU.
A significant upgrade is expected in the display specs compared to Moto G20. The upcoming Moto G22 reportedly sports a 6.53-inch OLED panel that retains a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. But Motorola fans should not expect much in the resolution as the screen reportedly has 1600 x 720 pixels only.
The Moto G22 design also has several notable differences from the Moto G20. The upcoming phone no longer features the dated waterdrop notch as it will be replaced by a hole punch at the top-center part of the screen. Motorola is also ditching the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner design by integrating the sensor in the power button.
Moto G22 reportedly packs a 5000mAh battery, but it will come with a 10W power adapter that suggests it does not support fast charging. The leak also mentioned that it will offer 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
