‘Moana’ recently unveiled new character details and photographs. Nicole Scherzinger of the ‘Pussycat Dolls’ fame is set to voice Moana’s mother. She joins Dwayne Johnson, Alan Tudyk and Jemaine Clement in the voice cast.
According to Nerdist, Disney recently unveiled new character details and images for its upcoming animated feature in addition to its official synopsis. It was previously revealed that Auli’i Cravalho is set to voice the titular adventuress with Dwayne Johnson lending his voice to the legendary demi-god Maui.
Rouding up the voice cast together with Cravalho and Johnson are Nicole Scherzinger, Alan Tudyk, Phillipa Soo, Temuera Morrison, Jemaine Clement, and Rachel House. According to Playbill, Scherzinger is set to voice Sina, Moana’s strong-willed and protective mother who also appreciates her daughter’s love for the ocean. The Grammy-nominee rose to international prominence as the lead vocalist of burlesque troupe-turned-recording act ‘Pussycat Dolls’ before embarking on a solo career in show business.
Meanwhile, Tudyk is set to voice the dimwitted rooster Heihei who manages to join Moana and Maui on their journey in the open seas after accidentally stowing away in Moana’s canoe. Clement will voice Tamatoa, a villainous and narcissistic 50-foot crab hailing from the realm of monsters called Lalotai. It was revealed that Tamatoa and Maui somehow share a history together.
House will voice Moana’s grandmother Gramma Tala. She is described as Moana’s best friend and confidant and shares a deep connection with the sea together with her granddaughter. Morrison will voice Moana’s overprotective father and chief of Motunui Island who doesn’t understand his daughter’s desire to sail the open ocean.
Other characters include the crazy pirates called Kakamora covered in coconut armor as well as Pua, Moana’s highly energetic loyal pet pig.
‘Moana’ is an upcoming action-adventure animated film scheduled to be released on November 23, 2016. It is directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. It is produced by Osnat Shurer and executive produced by John Lasseter.
It is produced under Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures.
