Miley Cyrus revealed how facing the aftermath of their burned down Malibu home led to her finally tying the knot with Liam Hemsworth. Meanwhile, the newly married couple was once rumored as the actor reportedly wants them to move to Australia.
The Malibu property where Cyrus and Hemsworth lived together was destroyed by the Woolsey fire like the thousands of other homes in California. The house had a very special meaning to the couple. As Cyrus mentioned in previous interviews, it was the place where her very first album, released not as Hannah Montana, was mostly created there. Then, during their brief breakup, Hemsworth ended up buying the property without knowing at first how the singer-actress was connected to it.
Cyrus said in Vanity Fair's March 2019 issue that she was away in South Africa filming Netflix's “Black Mirror” when their house was devastated last November. Meanwhile, Hemsworth took care of their animals and evacuated them before the fire completely engulfed their home. And experiencing that tragedy, Cyrus said, helped her feel “more connected to being human again.”
On a positive note, Cyrus and Hemsworth turned that unfortunate event into something very meaningful, specifically, for their relationship. The “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” singer said she and her beau “found a new bond underneath all that rubble.”
Around 10 years after they met and became a couple, Cyrus and Hemsworth got married last December. They had an intimate ceremony and only invited a few family and friends in her current home in Tennessee. "When you experience what we experienced together with someone, it is like glue. You’re the only two people in the world who can understand,” Cyrus added.
Speaking of Cyrus and Hemsworth's home, Gossip Cop recalls there used to be a rumor that the latter prefers to start their own family in his home country, Australia. The fact-checking news outlet refers to a Life & Style source who claimed they were “fighting” as Cyrus wanted to stay in California. But this story has since been debunked and Cyrus’ recent interview for Vanity Fair confirms that choosing between Australia and California is not causing a strain in their marriage.
