In a Facebook post, a Microsoft executive announced his plans to take a year off beginning next month. Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President Joe Belfiore, who is also a key member of the team that oversees the company’s Windows unit, said in his post that he will be sailing the world with his family.
Belfiore said that the vacation was not just a purely recreational one, The Next Web noted. According to him, his family will be joining over 600 college students and a group of teachers in a floating college campus called Semester At Sea.
“We think a floating college campus will be an amazing environment for everyone in our family to get a chance to see and experience the diversity all around the world and better appreciate what we have here. We’ve coveted the opportunity to spend a lot of time with each other and our kids—and we’re taking advantage of it while we can!,” Belfiore wrote.
Business Insider said Belfiore’s post was also meant to clarify his job status at Microsoft. He explained that he would be back in time to continue leading the Windows team. But his vacation has sparked questions about the timing, considering that he will not be around in time for the Windows 10 mobile launch.
