Since his unfortunate accident in December 2013, Michael Schumacher was never seen in public again. He suffered from a severe head injury and was put in an induced coma for six months before he was brought home where he is being cared for by a team of medical professionals.
His family refused to release details about his health condition thus many speculations arose and this include rumors that Schumi is paralyzed, he is bedridden and living through machines, he is awake and going through physical rehabilitation to regain his motor skills and more. None of these were ever confirmed, so his current situation remained a secret up to now.
Stem Cell Treatment for Schumi
The latest report is that Michael Schumacher underwent a stem cell treatment in Paris. According to The Telegraph, the local newspaper Le Parisien reported that the F1 legend was brought to Georges-Pompidou Hospital more than two weeks ago, but when reached for comments, the hospital refused to confirm or deny citing medical laws on privacy.
The 50-year-old former sportsman was said to have been treated by well-known surgeon Philippe Menasche, and he was driven home via ambulance the next day after the surgery. The family allegedly has high hopes that Schumi will display big improvements from the stem cell procedure.
Schumi’s manager speaks up about Michael and secrecy on his health condition
On Sunday, Sept. 22, Michael Schumacher’s long-time manager, Sabine Kehm, appeared on Formula 1’s official podcast “Beyond the Grid” and she talked about the racing champ. Her interview came after the news of stem cell treatment came out.
Express reported that Kehm also revealed that she understands why keeping Schumacher’s health condition a secret is hard for the fans. But then, she said that this is something that must be done because his health is still a private matter.
“We realized that this is difficult for some people to understand,” the publication quoted her as saying. “But we do so in perfect accordance with Michael’s attitude and can only thank you for being understanding.”
She went on to say that Michael Schumacher has always been a “warmhearted person, but his health is not a public issue” so they will not comment on it further. Kehm insisted that they are just doing this to protect the champ’s privacy as much as possible.
