Like father, like son. While Michael Schumacher is recovering at his home near Lake Geneva in Switzerland, his 19-year-old son Mick has been busy making a name for himself in the sport of motor racing. By winning the European Formula 3 Championship with Prema Theodore Racing this past weekend, Mick has now qualified for a Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) super license, and many believe it is only a matter of time before he follows in his father’s footsteps and joins Formula 1.
However, Michael Schumacher’s son doesn’t seem to be in a rush to drive in Formula 1. In an interview with German broadcaster Sat1 (via the Daily Express), Mick revealed that he is planning to move to Formula 2 instead next season.
"I could drive in Formula 1, that's clear. It's still my big goal but it's still very unrealistic,” Mick said. "In order to be 100 per cent prepared to be there as a full race driver, it's necessary to go through all the different series of formulas," he added.
Motorsport enthusiasts will probably see Mick racing in Formula 1 one day. But right now he’s still not ready, so fans will have to wait.
In other news, Michael Schumacher’s former Ferrari boss Jean Todt recently opened up about how the Formula 1 great has touched his life and he said Michael’s victory at Suzuka in 2000 is one of the best memory he has.
“That’s Suzuka in 2000. Michael is world champion at 21. I remember saying to Michael, ‘On a professional level, things will be different for us,’” Todt said in an interview with The Sun. “I love Michael. I see his family. I wish the situation would be different,” he continued.
At the moment, Michael Schumacher’s condition is still a mystery to the public. But it’s good to know that he has good friends that will help him pull through no matter what.
