Michael Schumacher had reportedly tried to return to racing but his doctors stopped him so he was not able to do it. It was reported that it was a former executive at Ferrari who made this surprising claim.

As per Express, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, ex-Ferrari chairman, divulged a serious health problem that beset the legendary racer prior to his horrific skiing accident in the Alps in 2013. It was said that Michael Schumacher had been involved in a motorcycle accident that almost took his life.

It was revealed that he was badly injured and suffered from bone fractures all over his body, including the base of his skull. Montezemolo said that when he recovered in 2009, he asked Michael Schumacher if he would like to race again since it had already been five years since he won his last racing title.

He said that the racer’s response was very enthusiastic and that he was so eager for the chance but at the last minute, he had to drop out from the race. “Unfortunately his doctor had to stop him from returning. He was not ready, which was bad for all of us,” Montezemolo said.

The story was relayed by Montezemolo during his speech at the opening of Michael Schumacher’s car collection exhibit in Cologne, Germany. As cited in Autosport, the cars are part of a private collection of the F1 legend and it opened to the public on June 16.

The former Ferrari executive was emotional while delivering his speech and everyone knows this was because Michael Schumacher has yet to fully recover from his grave head injury. Five years since the Alps accident, there is still no concrete report about the real state of his health.

Moreover, while he woke up from his medically induced coma on June 16, 2016, sources said he was far from full recovery. However, his family has kept his condition a secret, so the public can’t be sure of how he is these days.

In other news, it was reported that Michael Schumacher's wife, Corinna Betsch, recently purchased a 27M pound sprawling mansion in Majorca. The news, which first appeared in the German newspaper Bild, disclosed that it was an old property of Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s president.

The property is said to be 161,000 square feet in expanse and it has two swimming pools, a guest villa, a large garden and even a helipad. Michael Schumacher’s wife plans to make the estate known as the Villa Yasmin as their holiday home.
