Michael Schumacher’s health condition remains a mystery. Since his serious skiing accident in 2013, little has been known about his recovery. The F1 legend’s family chose to keep everything a secret so fans have been begging them to release an update about their favorite racer’s health, but to no avail.

Now, some of Michael Schumacher’s friends and colleagues have stepped out to make a plea. They are asking the fans to respect the Schumacher family’s decision to keep Mike’s health condition confidential. Besides, they said that they don’t really have to divulge anything since it is a private matter to begin with.

In a report by the Daily Star, French motorsports executive Jean Todt was the latest among the racing champ’s friends to plead with fans. He asked them to refrain from bothering Schumi’s family and just let them live in peace.

Todt knows how much fans wanted to see Michael again so before saying his request, he shared an update about his condition. He began by saying that he is lucky to be one of the few people to be allowed to visit the former racing star.

Then he said that Michael Schumacher is surrounded by his family. When he was pushed by the Argentine newspaper La Nación to say more, he said, “I feel blessed to have frequent access, but his health is a private issue and I think it’s time we let Michael live his life in peace.”

This is not the first time that Michael Schumacher’s friend has asked for privacy from fans and the media. In April, former F1 colleague Michael Bartels revealed that his friend still has hope for recovery.

“It is still a very tragic thing and I hope and wish that one day we will hear the news that he is feeling so much better, that we will be able to see him in public again, Express quoted Bartels as saying. He then said that Michael’s family needs privacy.

Michael Schumacher suffered from brain damage after a freak skiing accident in the French Alps. He was put in a medically induced coma for a week and was said to have been recovering fairly well. From the hospital, it was once reported that the racer was brought home where he is being cared for by hired medical workers round the clock.
