Michael Schumacher's skiing accident that resulted in his medically induced coma and eventual seclusion may have happened back in 2013 but fans of the legendary Formula One driver still feel the accident's presence to this day. With the Schumacher family recently asking for more privacy regarding Michael Schumacher's condition, concerned fans can now only turn to a few sources for updates on his condition.
One of the few people still able to see Michael Schumacher face to face is Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) president Jean Todt. As a close friend of Schumacher and a public figure in the autosport industry, Jean Todt's current position allows him opportunities to share snippets of the German driver's current domestic life.
Recently, Jean Todt spoke to the press about Michael Schumacher's condition. In an interview with the British daily national newspaper The Times, Todt mentions that he thankfully is still able to see Michael Schumacher at least twice a month. The autosport executive shares his fond memories of Michael Schumacher, pointing out how Schumi was as close to him as family.
When asked about Michael Schumacher's current condition, Todt emphasizes that the current situation is private but he does wish that “the situation would be different.” Thankfully, Todt does not share any critical news that could imply that Schumacher is currently in critical condition. Todt has already expressed that he respects the Schumachers' request for privacy regarding Michael Schumacher's condition, but the assuring way he has been able to keep the situation under wraps may be comforting for some fans.
Fans of Michael Schumacher will simply have to accept that updates from Schumacher's close friends will have to satisfy their curiosity about their idol's condition. Hopefully, given enough time, such updates from the likes of Jean Todt and other friends of Schumacher in the public sphere can start telling more optimistic stories of his recovery.
