The ArtIEEs Award Trophy is the world's first emotionally interactive artwork produced by a robot brain–Brain2Bot’s natural intelligence software. The robot brain is aptly dubbed Momenta, because her constantly fluxing sentiments are depicted in an artistic swirl of emotions ranging from fire to ice, reflecting the feelings and reactions of audience members universally. Momenta was created by Gunnar Newquist, Ph.D., Founder and CEO, Brain2Bot, Inc., who was the first winner of the Entrepreneur Pitch Fest at last year’s #AIShowBiz event.
A video displaying Momenta’s excitement is available at: http://www.globenewswire.com/NewsRoom/AttachmentNg/7104c871-f37e-480a-9045-0d7ca5c08e06
Momenta’s unique innovation is characterized by her own internal emotional state, based on biological emotional systems. One’s emotional interaction with the robot can affect this state just like interaction can affect the emotional state of other beings. Affectiva's emotional intelligence software allows the robot to sense one’s emotional state through facial expressions.
Essentially, the robot wears her emotion on her sleeve, or screen, which creates the visually-appealing effects. Brain2Bot's natural intelligence software gives Momenta the ability to learn directly from her experience, developing her own internal emotional systems, and creating a unique personality. Momenta gives an early-stage look into a future where mere pre-programmed robots transition to synthetic emotional beings that are like family members.
“If we want robots to work with us and share our lives with us, then they’ll need to have their own emotional intelligence,” said Gunnar Newquist, Ph.D., Founder and CEO of Brain2Bot, Inc. “We created Momenta as a synthetic brain with learning and emotional systems modeled after human biological learning and emotional systems. The ArtIEEs Trophy is a visualization of Momenta's internal emotional state with digital artwork; and it is our hope that her interactive artwork will give us a glimpse into a future where synthetic beings share our feelings and become part of our social groups.”
