Meghan Markle dropped by the Suva Market on the second day of her visit to the island of Fiji. The duchess of Sussex went to the busy place without Prince Harry so she could meet with some of the female entrepreneurs there.
She was supposed to be in the market for 20 minutes but it was suddenly cut short when throngs of people gathered to see her. Her security team led her out of venue just after six minutes so she was not able to talk with the vendors like what was planned.
Many of the people, especially the vendors whom Meghan Markle was supposed to meet, were disappointed when she suddenly had to leave without seeing them. But the duchess had no choice but to leave since she could be at risk.
As everyone already knows, Meghan Markle is pregnant so being surrounded by a huge crowd of people would be very uncomfortable for her. And as one of her security escorts said, the former “Suits” actress was whisked away to her waiting vehicle because it was "hot, humid and uncomfortably busy" in the market when she visited, The Daily Mail reported.
Moreover, Meghan Markle was spotted whispering something to one of her royal aides. One witness said that Prince Harry’s wife appeared to have a very concerned look on her face while others observed that she was not her usual self when she was about to enter the marketplace. With the situation, her bodyguards immediately intervened and led her to the car.
"She stopped to speak to a pineapple seller on one of the stalls and had a very blank and disengaged look on her face, which is very unlike her,” the witness told Mirror. "It was very hot and humid in there so perhaps it wasn't the best environment for a pregnant woman.
Meanwhile, Kensington Palace stated that Meghan Markle left the market because there were issues with managing the crowd. It was not just for the safety of the duchess but for the people as well.
