The short synopsis for “The Seventh Floor” posted on TV Guide reads, “Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) and her team work to secure the release of an American journalist held hostage in the Sudan.”
It seems that the upcoming episode is set to put the risks of journalism front and center. It is set to tackle the plight of journalists, which includes the possibility of being abducted by local terror groups while in the field, according to Cartermatt. It will be up to Elizabeth and her team to attempt to secure an American journalist’s release after being held hostage in Sudan.
Elizabeth will have to come up with a plan that would not provoke the captors and lessen the possibility of bloodshed between the rescue group and the kidnappers. Although Elizabeth has the skill for careful negotiation, every case is a unique and challenging one in itself.
The hostage crisis will not be the only thing hounding Elizabeth in the upcoming episode. The promo for “The Seventh Floor” posted on Spoilers Guide opens to Liz talking to a foreign minister from China over a video call. The minister calls on the United States to issue an apology for accusations made against his country or else there will be consequences.
Elizabeth then enlists Matt’s (Geoffrey Arend) help to write her a speech for the press conference. However, Matt faces writer’s block when he attempts to create one for the secretary.
Daisy (Patina Miller) then reminds him that Elizabeth needs the speech within the next three hours and he begins to panic. It will be interesting to see if Matt and Elizabeth can pull off the sensitive speech without provoking the other country, considering they had a rough start.
‘Madam Secretary’ season 3’s episode 21, titled “The Seventh Floor,” is scheduled to air on CBS on May 7, 2017. It was directed by Deborah Reinisch and written by Matt Ward.
