‘Madam Secretary’ Season 3, Episode 17 Spoilers: “Convergence” – Elizabeth’s Team Uncovers Mole in CIA’s Smuggling Ring, Attempts to Save Rhinos from Extinction in Namibia

‘Madam Secretary’ season 3’s episode 17, titled “Convergence,” is set to follow Elizabeth and her team from the State Department as they uncover a possible mole in the CIA’s smuggling ring. They will also attempt to save rhinos from extinction in Namibia.

The synopsis for “Convergence” posted on TV Guide reads, “A possible mole is arrested in the CIA arms smuggling ring, but Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) suspects that he could be a small part of a larger, more dangerous force behind the operation.

Meanwhile, Henry (Tim Daly) worries that the doomsday cult is drugging his embedded operative; and Elizabeth and her State Department staff come up with an unorthodox approach to solving black rhino poaching in Namibia.”

The upcoming episode is set to reveal a possible mole in a smuggling ring run by the CIA during a computer sting. Elizabeth will find that the mole may be part of a bigger and more dangerous scheme. She is set to butt heads with the CIA director as she tries to delve deeper into the heart of things.

The promo shows Elizabeth in a meeting with President Dalton (Keith Carradine) and other officials as they discuss missiles that went missing. Dalton then voices out his concern about these deadly weapons falling into the wrong hands. The United States will need to retrieve these missiles before it is too late.

The promo also shows an angry CIA official making his way into Elizabeth’s office. He warns her that she has no business meddling with affairs that she could not possibly handle herself. He yells, “You went over my head! Do you have any idea who you’re messing with?”

Another scene shows armed soldiers bursting through the State Department’s headquarters as Elizabeth looks on in alarm. It seems that a spy may be hiding inside the building. One of Elizabeth’s aides then informs her over the phone that the mole has been captured.

By the end of the promo, Elizabeth is seen asking the CIA director for help as it seems that they both have a common enemy that needs to be subdued. It will be interesting to find out if the mole was part of Elizabeth’s trusted team the entire time.

According to Cartermatt, Elizabeth and her team from the State Department will also attempt to save black rhinos from extinction in Namibia. It seems that the United States Secretary of State will have more issues to deal with as the series moves forward.

Meanwhile, Henry will grow more concerned that a doomsday cult is possibly drugging his embedded operative.
