WAYNESBORO, Va., Jan. 19, 2018 -- Lumos Networks Corp. a leading fiber-based service provider in the Mid-Atlantic region, today announced it will sponsor PGA Champions Tour member Rocco Mediate for the 2017-2018 season. Mediate will serve as a brand ambassador alongside PGA Tour member Scott Piercy who has been a Lumos brand ambassador since 2016. Key elements of the sponsorship include, but are not limited to, Mediate wearing the Lumos logo at Tour events and appearance days throughout the season.
“We’re excited and proud to add Rocco to our team of brand ambassadors,” said Joseph McCourt, Chief Revenue Officer for Lumos Networks. “His roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic, consistency and dedication to his game, his fans and the causes he supports are qualities shared by our team, and are consistent with the core values of Lumos Networks. Our customers and prospective customer base are looking forward to interacting with Rocco and seeing him shine on the tour this season.”
Since turning pro in 1985 after graduation from Florida Southern College, Rocco Mediate has enjoyed great success among PGA Tour Champions and on the PGA Tour. Among his PGA tour successes are victories at the 2010 Frys.com Open, the 2002 Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic and the 2000 Buick Open. His epic battle with Tiger Woods in the 2008 U.S. Open, where he finished 2nd in a playoff, remains one of the most discussed tour events to this day, a decade later. He took the PGA Tour Champions by storm when he joined in 2013 winning the 2013 Allianz Championship and the 2013 Shaw Charity Classic. Since then he’s enjoyed continued success, including winning the 2016 Senior PGA Championship.
“I’m excited to partner with Lumos Networks," said Mediate. “Their continued focus on bringing the network of the future to markets across the Mid-Atlantic, including my hometown of Greensburg, PA, has been remarkable as has their continued expansion over the last few years. When you look at how they’ve grown and still remain focused on creating an unequalled customer experience, it’s obvious why they’re a leader in their industry. It’s exciting to have that kind of energy and support with me this season.”
