“Life is Strange” is deemed as one of the most gripping games that hit the video game industry mostly due to its narrative. Created as an episodic title, the game focuses on two young boys – Sean and Daniel – as they made their way towards safety after accidentally killing a police officer amidst a tensed and confusing situation.
“Life is Strange” released its third episode on May 9, which will be followed by the fourth one slated to arrive on Aug. 22. The last episode will drop on Dec. 3 that will conclude the entire journey of the aforementioned characters.
Full of compelling storylines and relatable real-life scenarios, “Life is Strange” isn’t a game that shies away from sensitive topics. Police brutality and teenage sexual intercourse are just some of the subjects that the game has touched upon, with responsibility and personal journey smacked in between.
But the underlying narrative of “Life is Strange” hasn’t gone unnoticed from fans and game reviewers alike. The political aspect of the title provides a soft tension to the characters’ journey, while simultaneously providing a hazy mirror image to what’s been going on with “Trump’s America.”
However, brilliant as “Life is Strange” is, it’s not without fault. One of the criticisms that have bubbled up is the lack of actual gameplay. But the game more than makes up for it through little moments that just ground everything in place, peppered here and there with romance and fraternity bond.
In the third episode, “Life is Strange” takes a long breather, developing the personalities of Sean and Daniel while simultaneously pitting them with side characters to further highlight that aspect. Sean’s crush on Cassidy, for instance, is one that immediately pops up due to how the writers brilliantly handled the awkwardness of teenage sex.
It’s confusing, believable, and best of all, relatable. While there’s no news what sort of twist the next episode is going to drop, it’s expected that “Life is Strange” will pick up the pace again and inject that sense of urgency that’ll push the characters forward. With the penultimate episode dropping next month, the writers will probably set up a lot of tension in the storyline before finally concluding the 14-month dance, VG247 reported.
