Lee Min Ho is making his comeback in the drama field through “The King: The Eternal Monarch.” This will be his very first drama in two years since he left show business in 2017 to enlist in the army.
The 32-year-old actor has been preparing for his role since he was confirmed to star in it in April, just a week after he completed his military duty and was discharged from service. This will also mark his reunion with “The Heirs” writer Kim Eun Sook, so he and his fans are extremely excited.
The new drama and its production details
Kim Eun Sook is a popular writer whose works have always turned out to be blockbusters. Aside from “The Heirs,” she is also the person behind the hit dramas that include “The Descendants of the Sun,” Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won’s “Secret Garden,” Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook’s “Goblin,” “Lovers in Paris” and “Mr. Sunshine.” With her track record of highly successful dramas, many actors and actresses want to be included in her projects.
For Lee Min Ho’s comeback drama, Kim Eun Sook will team up again with “DOTS” director Baek Sang Hoon. The best talents were also chosen to support the actor, and Kim Go Eun has been confirmed to be his leading lady. The actors who will be supporting them include Woo Do Hwan, Kim Kyung Nam, Lee Jung Jin, and Jung Eun Chae.
The script reading and Min Ho’s promise to fans
Lee Min Ho updated his fans about the developments in the filming of “The King: The Eternal Monarch” by going live via Instagram. During the streaming, he shared that they are about to start filming as the script has been completed already.
“Actually, the script is out already. We’re going to start filming soon, the earliest we may begin filming is in September,” Soompi quoted him as saying. “The drama is scheduled to begin airing in March (2020), and I’m going to become the king of romance, so please anticipate it.”
Following the actor’s update, he and the cast have gathered together for the first scripting, and it was held in Seoul. Meanwhile, the drama will tell the story of an emperor who discovered a door leading to the modern world. He set out to seal this passage before the villains find it and cause trouble. Lee Min Ho as Emperor Lee Gon will seek the help of modern-day detectives so they can close the door before it’s too late.
