Microsoft on Wednesday released a “really great” Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview Build 10586. It is available for Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring and comes with a lot of fixes and improvements.
To start with, the issue that caused corrupted Start experience after upgrading and restoring a backup from a phone with a different resolution has been fixed. Default save locations can be easily set now and will reflect the current storage setting.
Improvements have been made to the Messaging + Skype app and physical camera button (if it wasn’t working earlier), less resuming/loading text when switching apps, more reliable download of apps and games from the store. Moreover, moving apps to a SD card should no longer cause those apps to crash, the blog post said.
The known issues that have not been addressed with the latest build include:
- A bug in the build that will cause the filesystem to become partially corrupted after doing a factory reset. Due to this bug, upgrading to Build 10586 will cause the device to go into a reboot loop after the upgrade completes. Microsoft suggests users to use the hardware key combination to reset their phone which will then put it at the OOBE experience on Build 10586.
- Deploying Silverlight apps through Visual Studio would not work in this build and will be fixed with the release of Visual Studio 2015 Update 1 on Nov. 30th.
- Lastly, the tile for Insider Hub still remains under All apps but doesn’t open.
