CFTC commitment of traders report was released on Friday (19th October) and cover positions up to Tuesday (16th October). COT report is not a complete presenter of entire market positions; however, it represents a good chunk of institutional traders, to have a feel of what expected by the big players.

- Gold – Position shifted from short to long
The net long positions rose in such a fashion by 55,842 contracts that the net position shifted from short to +17.7K contracts.
- Copper – Net position long and increasing
The net long positions rose last week by 671 contracts to +8.9K contracts.
- Silver – Net position short and decreasing
The short positions declined last week and by 7,423 contracts to -14.8K contracts.
- WTI Crude – Net position long and decreasing
Speculators reduced long positions for the 13th time in 17 weeks, and by 34,822 contracts, which brought the net positions to +493.2K contracts.
- Natural gas – Net position short and decreasing
Short positions declined for the 9th time in 12 weeks and by 18 contracts last week to -4.5K contracts.
